Lessons from Life: Personal Growth and Reflections
What I have learned recently are some profound and personal reflections that have been guiding my journey through life. This piece explores these reflections, their impact on my personal growth, and the valuable insights that can be gained from them.
My Struggles and Resilience
As a 30-something individual, I have faced my fair share of challenges. Just a few months ago, one of my college colleagues asked me, 'How do you even get the energy to do all this? You have the grit to do anything anyhow.' I responded, 'Everyone has that; you just need to always give your best shot.'
While this statement seemed simple, it hit a nerve. It brought to light the personal struggles I've been dealing with. My health had been declining, leading to weight gain despite my efforts. This insecurity and the turbulent family dynamics only added to my sense of loneliness. On top of this, the relentless pressure of balancing work and personal life seemed overwhelming. However, I realized that it was just a matter of choice. We all face problems, but the choice lies in how we handle them.
Just because something may seem perfect on the surface, doesn’t mean it is. Just because others perceive me as capable of doing well in certain areas, it doesn't mean my life is perfect. People may have different opinions about me. Most of these opinions are just their own delusions about my life, which may never be true. This enlightenment gave me the freedom to be myself and to stop caring so much about what others think. After all, 99% of their thoughts about me are simply how they perceive me – it's not how I live my life.
Exposing Indian Colleges: A Hard Truth
Another significant lesson I've learned is about Indian colleges. I discovered that many of them are, in fact, scams. While the Indian higher education system is evolving, not all institutions are functioning with transparency. There are numerous cases where students end up paying hefty fees only to receive subpar education. This realization has been a wake-up call for those considering higher education in India, prompting a more critical and informed approach.
Reflections on Media and Reality
The media has long been known to present the world in a certain light, often aiming to show the best sides of reality. They call it 'great reality,' which, in most cases, is just old news. These stories might be 'good,' but they are usually not the most immediate and tangible reality. They often represent a vibrational truth that exists at a certain point in time but is soon replaced by new stories.
As a personal experiment, I visited my village after around 6 years. I had assumed a lot would have changed, given that I had completed college and my work life had passed significant milestones. My expectations were high, but the reality was stark: nothing had changed. Everything looked the same as it did before. This reaffirmed how volatile life can be, and how some things need to remain constant to instill a sense of calm and familiarity in the chaos of daily life.
Villages offer a unique sense of peace. Early mornings at 6 AM and late nights at 10 PM, living a simple and happy life – these are the values that are deeply ingrained in my psyche. My village, my home, built with my father's first salary, holds a special place in my heart. It serves as a constant reminder of where I came from and the roots that nurtured me.
During my visit, I learned a crucial lesson about life: amidst all the volatility and change, there should be a place of stability and comfort. Not everything needs to improve; some things should stay the same to provide a sense of calm in a chaotic world. This is a vital reminder that I often take for granted.
Conclusion
These personal reflections and insights have significantly impacted my perspective on life. They have taught me the importance of resilience in the face of adversity, the value of staying true to oneself, and the need for a stable anchor in life's turbulence. Reflecting on these lessons, it's clear that personal growth is a continuous journey.
