The NEET Dropper's Journey: Insights and Lessons
Hi everyone!
There I was, a NEET dropper who couldn’t secure a government seat due to reservation policies. I scored 633 this year, in my first attempt, without any coaching. It was the first rank in my school, but the irony is that all others, except me, got an MBBS seat despite scoring in the mid-500s. It's really depressing. However, I decided to put in more effort and get a seat in 2025. I'm fully committed to proving everyone wrong and showing that determination and hard work pay off.
My First NEET Attempt in Detail
Yes, I am a NEET dropper. I completed my 12th in 2023 and wrote my first NEET exam without any coaching. I scored 323, and I am comfortable with that score since I did not prepare much. I chose to take a year off and then joined local offline coaching for some preparation. I wrote the exam on May 5 and was satisfied with the score of 595. However, the rank of 89,000 was a severe blow. I was considering taking another year off but haven't started my studies yet.
My Second Attempt: A Year Later
Yes, I decided to drop another year. In 2023, I scored 579 marks, just missing out on a GMC seat by one question. A year later in 2024, I scored 685 marks. The journey was filled with ups and downs, including panic attacks, anxiety, and sleepless nights. However, my determination paid off.
This year, in my second attempt, I scored 685 marks. This experience has taught me that while one year off can be beneficial for preparation, it's also important to stay focused and determined. In the end, hard work and perseverance are the keys to success.
Lessons from My NEET Experience
As a NEET dropper, I have a few insights to share. My first attempt taught me the importance of preparation and the impact of coaching. While I did not have much coaching initially, I saw the benefits when I joined in the second year. I also learned that taking a year off can be a good option, but it's essential to stay motivated and not get disheartened by setbacks.
My journey is not unique; many others have faced similar struggles. However, what sets me apart is my determination to keep going. I missed out on the cutoff by just 2 marks in the first year and had to wait till November for state quota counseling, which I was unable to secure. In December, I joined Nanded for NEET 23 coaching. Despite missing out on a quarter of the syllabus, I was determined to make up for lost time. After five grueling months, I was happy that the exam went well, and my efforts paid off with a score of 614, securing a seat at GMCH Miraj.
Today, I am reflecting on the emotional journey I have been through. While the memories of NEET days still haunt me in my dreams, I am grateful for the emotional support of my family. My father's dedication and support have been a significant factor in my success. Missing the state quota cutoff by 2 marks was a tough blow, but I approached the second year with renewed determination. Overcoming anxiety and stress, I was able to secure my dream seat, which is a testament to the power of perseverance.
In conclusion, my experience as a NEET dropper emphasizes the importance of preparation, perseverance, and support. It is not about the score but about the journey and the lessons learned along the way. Whether it is the first or second attempt, the key is to stay focused and committed. I am now at the day of admission, ready to take on the next chapter of my life with confidence and enthusiasm.
Heartfelt wishes to all those who are still on this journey, and remember that effort and determination will always lead to success.
